Autumn Tips: Give your lawn a seasonal boost

Blog

September and October are good times of the year to give your lawn a ‘pick-me-up’ to revitalise them after the Summer. Follow our Autumn Tips below to help your lawn stay healthy through Winter:

  • Clear leaves: Allowing leaves to gather on your lawn can block out the oxygen and sunlight which your grass needs to survive. The quickest and easiest way to remove leaves is to mow them up. This will mulch and compact them at the same time, making for a faster decomposition.
  • Mowing: Avoid mowing if heavy frosts are expected or if the ground is particularly wet. Keep your cut to around 1 inch and ensure your mower blades are sharp.
  • Garden tools: Remember to bring all of your tools inside to keep them in good condition. If an object is left outside during cold weather, it can create dead spots on your lawn which we don’t want.
  • Treatments: Our NutraGreen ‘Autumn/Winter’ treatment includes our micronutrient feed which helps the lawn cope with the rigours of Aeration and Scarification and to also endure the winter weather. This treatment strengthens the grass whilst dehydrating any moss that is present in your lawn, slowing down its growth and spread.
  • Aeration & Scarification: Lawns have a natural build-up of thatch. Thatch creates an environment that moss loves, making lawns spongy. Aeration and Scarification reduce surface and below the surface thatch. Autumn is a good time of the year to have this done on your lawn.

All your treatments throughout the year will have contributed greatly to a long-lasting, beautiful lawn, even throughout Winter. We look forward to continuing this journey with you and making your lawn the centrepiece of your garden.
