Garden Trends for 2021

As we're spending more time at home, many of us look to our gardens as an inviting green space which we can safely enjoy. We’ve appreciated how precious this outdoor space is and many of us have been thinking what we can do to make it even more enjoyable? So, what are the potential garden trends for 2021?

In 2020, the proposed trends were supersized house plants, flowers, sustainability, wildlife, and home-grown veg. Will these trends follow into 2021? The team at Love The Garden have kindly analysed over 100 different gardening hashtags on Instagram to identify growing trends and those set to become more dominant in 2021.

Here are some of the trends to consider before you upgrade your garden:

Wild Garden

It seems a Wild Garden is the go-to vibe for 2021. Having a section of your garden left ’wild’ is the ‘imperfect’ look but it can take a lot gardening to get it right. It’s brilliant for allowing bee’s, butterflies, and other wildlife to thrive; single-flowering varieties of plants and open flowers are the best to encourage wildlife.

Inside Outside

This trend is all about bringing your interior design, outside, creating an extension that is harmonious to your living space. This can include plants that work both indoors and out, outdoor rugs and garden mirrors.

Tiny Garden

As the name suggests, it’s about appreciating the space you have and making the most of it. You can make the space seem bigger by creating seating areas, clear pathways, and climbers.

Raised Flower Beds

Raised Flower Beds allow you to care for your plants (or grown fruit and veg) much easier, as well as, looking great as a feature in your garden! It’s important to remember to place them in a spot where your flowers can thrive.

Growing to Eat

Growing food becomes an obvious route for many in helping to support the environment. It reduces plastic use as well as building connections in more communal settings. Chillies, beans, peas, lentils, and other legumes are becoming a staple of the vegetable plot pushing out more traditional crops.

Cottage garden

Who doesn’t love the country vibe? A garden filled with cottage-inspired plants and flowers is always going to offer a peaceful space to enjoy. If you’re looking to achieve this style, consider planting roses, poppies, foxgloves, sweet peas, and delphiniums.
