What is Aeration?

The process of Aeration relieves compaction and creates open spaces in the soil. Deep channels are produced to help water, air, and nutrients penetrate the root zone.

What is Scarification?

This is the mechanical means of removing surface thatch that has built up over the year, thereby enabling airflow, nutrients, and moisture to reach the root zone. This results in healthier grass, less prone to lawn disease.

Why do I need Aeration and Scarification?

Moss: Moss thrives in damp conditions, and although lawn raking will remove some of it, unless you tackle the cause, it will keep coming back. That’s why Aeration and Scarification are now standard. The main causes are:

Thatch, a mattered layer found between the soil and the grass leaf.
Very heavy, compacted and/or clay soil which restricts air, water, and nutrients from reaching the root zone.

Thatch: Our lawns naturally build up a layer of dead grass, roots, and other matter (thatch). Unfortunately for us, thatch creates an environment on your lawn which moss can’t resist!

It’s essential to have Aeration and Scarification as this help to reduce thatch and subsequently moss.

What are the benefits of Aeration and Scarification?
